"Some former members say Peters spent a great deal of time playing golf. an extravagance that started to ruffle feathers among the group. Peters also began to carry himself with more self-importance. His opinion came to be the final word on all group matters."
-Tony Rehagen Indianapolis Monthly July 2007 Addition
"This is the sort of thing that needs to be distributed to the families that interact with … CII.
People here want to help but they need to know they aren't dealing with a slightly misguided man and his family. They are dealing with a spiritually subversive person who wants to dismantle a good church.”
-Anonymous From MN (reported 07/01/2007 )

"I was a member at the So. Burlington church where Mike preached and can testify that there was no church split that led him to leave. If anyone hurt that church it was Mike himself. He was annoyed with certain brethren who would not give in to him; especially the older members and denounced the congregation. In his opinion the church had lost its candlestick in heaven and then convinced several young people to leave with him. He stole and brainwashed young energetic Christians and all but killed this loving family..He left the church to die. I personally was glad to see him go. Many of his victims of his coercive and strong-arm tactics felt relief also and as far as I know he himself is worthy of disfellowship from the churches of Christ in South Burlington. There was no split during his rule at this congregation and the only thing close to the truth was over a former member named Guido who married a daughter of an elder against the wishes of the majority of the church because he was not scripturally divorced from his first wife. This happened before Mike was ever thought of preaching there and only resulted in differences of opinion and not a split. The congregation survived that test and when Mike came along he ruined the congregation with this lust for control, pride and arrogance. As far as what I can see from all of the victims he has left in his wake up to now; he has not changed his ways..." - Gene Fredette

...Then, my son was working as an electrician's assistant at one home and discussing with his boss some of what we were learning about Mike - he never mentioned Mike's last name. The woman of the house overheard the conversation and asked, "Are you talking about Mike Peters?" She continued that her husband, a professing Christian, had worked with some folks that are part of Mike's group. They refused to eat with him and held him at arm's length. She summed it up that, from his contact with the group, "They're a cult." - Rob W.

"Mike Peters is a Cult Leader Par Excellente..." - Augusta Harding,  Indiana Families Against Cults

If you are in this group and you wish to get out, our advice is to set aside 24 hours of prayer and thoughtfulness on this issue. Think about the cost and then think about what it would be like not to be subjected to spiritual communism. Remember the sweet times when you could hear from God yourself.

Home Churches or House Churches, traditional church meetings, fellowship groups, bible studies, and home schooling groups across the country are falling into these teachings. The leaders in the cult are buying up domain names like housechurch.com and others to draw people to themselves. Please consider these letters to a former member in the Indianapolis Church. Pray through these things, may the truth set you free!
